Support in Ministry

A beautiful young Chinese woman smiles at me in a photograph. She’s a recent convert and her story is in a ministry newsletter I recently received from a group I support.

My mind goes back to a conversation with a man who apparently didn’t know what I know. When I last saw him, he was in the critical-care unit at our nearby hospital.

“You’re near death,” I told him. “Is there any way I can minister to you in the privacy of this room?”

Well, he started to cry. “I’m going to go into the next world,” he said, “never having led anyone to Christ.”

“Oh, no you won’t,” I responded. “I have led hundreds to Jesus and you have supported me for years. In the church I play my part, you play yours, and we share the results. And that’s true.”

I continue to feel very grateful and am humbled by the many positive comments about my latest book entitled The Sermon Sucking Black Hole—Why You Can’t Remember on Monday What Your Minister Preached on Sunday. This book is now available at Amazon.com by clicking here.

This book gives some solid tips to the people sitting in the congregation to help them remember what you’ve said from the pulpit when they come to worship services in the church where you serve as pastor.
