Amazing Recall

On Sunday, March 10th, I preached in Erie, Pennsylvania. It’s a new church-plant that was started by a group of older adults. It’s been my privilege to watch their corporate growth from a distance.

I decided to share with you what I said. I know this is a specific message that has some personal illustrations. So it won’t be usable by others, at least not in its entirety. But it does have crossover application to any number of settings where older believers are involved.

I know when I hear someone else preach, because I can’t use that sermon or outline in its entirety doesn’t mean there aren’t parts that will service me well in other ways. So with this in mind, I share this message with you.

The truth is, some of the ideas, such as the contrast between Barzillai and Caleb, are not original with me. For the life of me, however, I can’t remember when I first heard these two men compared. But whoever said it, the thought stuck in my brain and suddenly came back just when I needed it. It’s amazing how our minds work!

God’s best to you this week.
