A Reason for Evangelism

As pastors, we must constantly think about how to spur the members of our congregations on to share the good news of the life-transforming power of the Lord Jesus Christ. We hold classes on how to lead someone to the Savior. We preach encouraging sermons to help the people in our charge understand how important it is to be Christ’s ambassadors. We even have contests that encourage our people to invite others to attend events and services at our churches.

A lot of the time, it seems as if all our efforts are in vain. Most of our people do not, or will not, invite others to church, nor witness effectively about what God has done in their lives through His Son, Jesus. However, I think that I’ve discovered something that might actually encourage people to do these things in a way that honors God and gives new energy to our churches.

In Podcast No. 46, which I have chosen to feature this week, I share how the overwhelming presence of Christ during times of revival often gives the people in a congregation a new interest in evangelism. If you would like to hear this discussion, I urge you to click the link on this page that will take you to my Sermon-Coach website and listen to this Podcast.

In my longing for a great, sweeping, movement of God across our land, I recognize that there are many positive changes such an occurrence would bring to our churches. This increased interest in evangelism is just one such positive change. I invite you to not only listen to the Podcast, but I invite you to join me in continuing to pray for revival.

I continue to feel very grateful and am humbled by the many positive comments about my latest book entitled The Sermon Sucking Black Hole—Why You Can’t Remember on Monday What Your Minister Preached on Sunday. This book is now available at Amazon.com by clicking here.

This book gives some solid tips to the people sitting in the congregation to help them remember what you’ve said from the pulpit when they come to worship services in the church where you serve as pastor.
