I’m just one person, and there’s only so much I can do. But, because I can’t meet all the needs I see, doesn’t mean I can’t effectively care for some of them.
Now, churches are like people. They, too, have limitations. If churches can’t meet all the needs they would like, it doesn’t mean they can’t minister effectively. The secret is to know what the church can do well, and also when it’s being stretched beyond its limits. When it’s right to add a new program, and also when it’s best to vote: “No. We’ve already taken on too much.”
Because another church has a drama program doesn’t mean your church should. Or, because the church has always had a scouting program, that it has to continue.
Learning your limits—it’s a great lesson for an individual to master, and also for church congregations to master.
